Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5+ years experience
- Experience in the petrochemical industry with a strong background in piping engineering.
- Professional Engineering license preferred but not required.
- Experience required in the following areas:
- Piping flexibility analysis by computer modeling
- Piping material specification
- P&ID and line summary development and review
- Piping layout
- Resolution of piping loads on equipment nozzles
- Piping design review
- Select and specify pipe supports, expansion joints, and other piping specialties.
- Excellent working knowledge of ASME piping codes and pressure vessel codes and API standards.
- Experience in working with piping designers and checking their work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills - Microsoft Applications (Word/Excel) and engineering software programs, such as CAEPIPE, CAESAR II, COMPRESS, and FEA programs.
- Capable of some travel and remote site assignments.
Responsibilities
- Review mechanical design of projects for technical accuracy, compliance, completeness and feasibility to governing codes and Client requirements.
- Establish technical guidelines, devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners, and draw conclusions from comparative situations.
- Assign mechanical design work and supervise accomplishment of same
- Require very little to no supervision.
- Able to identify improvement opportunities, and define scope of work to accomplish.
