John Macpherson
Chairman of the Board
As Chairman of the Board, John is responsible for guiding Anvil and ensuring we continually follow our Mission and Operating Principles. John has been on Anvil's Board of Directors since 1997 and became the Chairman in 2007.
John joined Anvil in 1971 and served as Anvil's President from 2003-2009. He has extensive experience in business management, engineering management, project management, and design engineering, primarily for the petroleum refining industry. John led Anvil's efforts to apply computer technologies to all aspects of engineering, project management, and resource management.
John holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Davis. He also attended the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School. He holds Professional Mechanical Engineer licenses in the States of Washington and Alaska.
Jim Wakefield
President
As Anvil's President, Jim is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the vital work of the executive management team. He works with senior management to identify annual strategic goals and targets and then monitors progress towards meeting those goals.
Since joining Anvil in 1993, Jim has successfully balanced many roles and responsibilities; he brings extensive experience in project management and process engineering, primarily in the hydrocarbon processing industry. Jim led several significant refinery revamp and upgrade projects and served as Manager of Projects in 2001, Project and Program Manager in 2003, and Pacific Region Engineering Manager in 2005. Jim became Anvil's Project Services Manager in 2006, functioning as chief operations officer, until becoming President in 2009.
During his career, Jim has worked for both owners and contractors, so he brings a diverse perspective to Anvil's engineering consulting services, and to the Board of Directors, which he joined in 2008.
Jim holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas.
Jim Jansky
Senior Vice President, Marketing Manager
As Marketing Manager, Jim represents Anvil to our existing and potential clients. He works closely with our senior management to ensure our brand and marketing philosophy develops the long-term client relationships and projects that follow Anvil's goals and objectives.
Jim joined Anvil in 1998 as manager of Project Controls and Engineering Quality and became instrumental in establishing project management and control methods and developing Anvil's ISO 9000 quality system. Since then, Jim has held several key roles, including Manager of Engineering and CFO. He joined Anvil's Board of Directors in 2008.
Jim brings over 30 years experience in the petroleum and petrochemical industries with a technical and commercial background in engineering and design, and project and engineering management. Prior to joining Anvil, he spent several years working for UOP as project management consultant.
Jim holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. He also attended the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School.
Gordon Lindell
Senior Vice President, Project Services Manager
As Manager of Resources, Gordy leads all of our engineering discipline groups. His primary responsibility is to ensure Anvil has the appropriate staff available to manage, support, and successfully execute our projects.
Gordy joined Anvil in 2003 as Project Manager for a large refinery project. That same year he became Anvil's Project Controls Manager where he managed all cost estimating, cost control and reporting, planning, scheduling, and risk analysis efforts. In addition, he accepted the role to manage the Project Management Department. He became the Manager of Resources in 2008.
Gordy brings over 30 years project management experience in engineering and construction projects for oil refinery, oil production, cogeneration, and pulp and paper facilities. Before joining Anvil, his work experience included participating in projects for new plants and supporting additions and modifications to existing facilities.
Gordy holds a B.S. in Construction Management from Louisiana State University.
Jim Turner
Senior Vice President, Manager of Resources
As Anvil's Project Services Manager, Jim is our chief operating officer responsible for leading Anvil's project and engineering efforts. He establishes annual goals and metrics and works with every discipline to ensure we consistently meet those targets. Jim also serves as Anvil's Manager of Programs, a role that further ensures Anvil consistently delivers successful and quality projects.
Jim joined Anvil in 1989 as a project manager. He held significant responsibilities in managing Anvil's large North Slope projects and developing long-term client relationships. He's led several significant projects and managed one of Anvil's larger client programs. He became the Manager of Programs in 2007 and has been in his current role since 2009.
Jim brings over 38 years of project, program, and construction management experience within the petroleum industry. Other significant areas of experience include production module fabrication and installation and offshore platform and topsides fabrication, assembly, and installation.
Jim holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a degree in Construction Project Management from the University of Denver. Jim also attended the Design of Fixed Offshore Structures at the University of Texas at Austin.
Dennis Bennett
Vice President, Business Development Manager
As Business Development Manager, Dennis is responsible for identifying Anvil's long-term and strategic future work opportunities. He represents Anvil to potential new clients and is exploring new business opportunities in new markets and locations. He works with all senior management to help establish Anvil's future direction and ensure we meet our long-term goals.
Dennis brings over 43 years of engineering, project management and resource management experience. Since joining Anvil in 1984, Dennis has held key roles on large projects in Alaska, California, Hawaii, and Utah, and management positions within Anvil. During his 27 years with Anvil, he has managed our Control Systems/Electrical group, been a Project Manager for large projects, and a Program Manager for a major client. Before joining Anvil, Dennis provided consulting and engineering services for various companies.
Dennis holds a Professional Control Systems Engineer license from the State of California.
Rob Farrow
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO, Rob is responsible for all of Anvil's reporting, accounting, planning, financial analysis, treasury, and human resource services. He also manages our Business Services group and ensures that our employees understand the financial, retirement, and medical benefits available to them through Anvil.
Rob brings over 32 years finance experience with 23 years in Chief Financial Officer roles in both small and large consumer products companies. He has successfully restructured and managed finance teams, managed debt restructurings, initiated and led strategic planning processes, and accomplished financial turnarounds. Rob has extensive experience in acquisitions and divestitures and has led audit functions as Director Internal Audit for a $5 billion company and as a client manager of a big-four public accounting firm.
Rob holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada. He is also a Chartered Accountant in Canada.
