Storage & Utilities
Anvil understands the engineering and design regulations and requirements for product storage and utilities for gas and oil refining products.
Storage Tanks
Anvil's Structural, Civil, and Mechanical departments provide expertise in all types of storage tanks. Our technical services include designing, specifying and inspecting tanks. In addition, we routinely provide foundation, site work, piping, electrical, and control systems designs for our clients.
Anvil's Storage Tank Services include Civil, Structural, Electrical, Controls/Instrumentation, Mechanical, and Piping design for the following tanks:
WASTEWATER TANKS
Anvil has designed several wastewater tanks, including a one million gallon, reinforced concrete wastewater storage tank. The design conformed to stringent ACI requirements for sanitary structures.
POTABLE WATER TANKS
Anvil has designed several reinforced concrete potable water tanks with a total storage capacity exceeding three million gallons. Our designs conformed to AWWA and ACI standards.
OIL TANKS
Anvil has designed several projects that included API 650 oil storage tanks. We performed the civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical design, specified the tanks, and approved tank drawings. Projects include a 500,000-barrel crude oil storage tank, a flush tank, and finished product tanks. Anvil also performs complete API 653 inspections on existing tanks.
SPHERES
Our experience includes desiging three spheres for two
projects. Each 70-foot diameter sphere was designed to hold
30,000 barrels at full vacuum.
Anvil performed complete site, structural, electrical, mechanical,
and instrumentation work.
CLARIFIERS
Our projects include several clarifiers for oil refineries, aluminum smelters, and paper mills.

Construct a 400,000 bbl crude storage tank and modify the
existing Crude Tank to allow storage of heavy crude stocks.
The heavy crudes must be heated to ensure they can be stored and
pumped without using diesel as a cutter stock.
The new tank is 255 feet in diameter by 48 feet tall, with an
internal floating roof.
Anvil participated with the Client in their 5 stage Project
Development Process-from early conceptual design through
startup. Anvil provided the following services:
- Conceptual engineering and cost estimating services
- Definition and detailed design services for the selected project
- On-site Field Services during pre-turnaround, turnaround, and startup.
