Client Challenge:
This client’s challenge was to improve the reliability and overall performance of process safety systems across the north side of their refinery location. This was a significant engineering effort with over 75 seemingly unrelated projects across multiple process units as opposed to a cohesive work scope concentrated in a specific area.
Anvil Solution:
The team developed a highly detailed execution plan with a carefully designed Work Breakdown Structure. Stakeholders from operations, maintenance and construction participated in the design from early project scoping through construction.
Flexibility of the team was paramount, the planning had to accommodate changes in site resources, equipment availability, business needs and outage schedules.
Results:
Though this project had to adjust the timeline due to equipment outage, the project was completed under budget and with a perfect safety record. The investment in engineering allowed the accommodation of shifting outage boundaries and timing.
